How to read Avamar "historical" data?
Hi,
We have just purchased DPA and combined it with our Avamar solution. I can run reports on everything from the day Avamar and DPA got connected but is their are way to get data into DPA from before DPA and Avamar got connected?

broeste,
Did you ever figure out how to accomplish this? I am looking for the same answer.

broeste,
Please refer to the following:
https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-9734
The DPA Administration guide has a Loading Historical Data section at the end that explains how to collect historical data using dpa_collector.exe from the command line. Very straight forward once you RTFM.

Kbillingsley,
Yep, found it in the admin guide and tried it out. The problem is that the total capacity doesn’t add up. In Avamar we use about 10 TB of physical space but DPA only reports around 6.5 TB total.
I’m thinking that DPA might have some problems with replicate domains since they don’t show up in DPA. I have tried running the backend capacity report in Avamar just too see how much total for each domain etc but I cannot get the backend capacity report to work. It fails all the time so I will contact Avamar support regarding this.
I will update this post when I have some new info regarding this

broeste,
I'm running into a very similar problem. I believe DPA is only reporting the deduplicated space and not the full protected data amount. I also know that for replication you need specific DPA licensing. You may want to check your licensing to see if you have the requisite licensing (I am today as well as we are also replicating and I see nothing of that nature).

Are you sure about the special Avamar Replication licenses for DPA? I don’t see that anywhere.

broeste,
The following part number is the part number for replication analysis: 456-101-972
It is a per capacity license.
