R530
I need to buy a LTO-9 external tape drive for a POWEREDGE R530. Can some one help me? What kind of internal card and interfase cable needed?

To use an external LTO-9 tape drive with your PowerEdge R530, you'll need an HBA (Host Bus Adapter) with SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) support, such as the LSI 9300-8e or similar. This card fits into a PCIe slot and provides external SAS ports. You'll also need a compatible SFF-8644 to SFF-8482 SAS cable or whatever matches your tape drive's interface. Make sure your drive and HBA use the same SAS generation (preferably 12Gbps for LTO-9). Let me know the tape drive model if you need more specific advice!

You can definitely use an LTO-9 external tape drive with a PowerEdge R530, but you’ll need the right host bus adapter and cable. Look for an external SAS HBA (like an LSI/Avago 9300-8e) and a compatible mini-SAS HD to mini-SAS HD cable, depending on the connector on your tape drive. If you share the exact model of the drive, we can confirm the exact cable and card you’ll need
