tmgoodyk,

Does this issue only present itself on youtube videos or other videos as well?

Run the diagnostics on the system and reply back any failed results.

The Inspiron 7577 is shipped with the Dell™ Enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment (ePSA) diagnostics.

The Dell ePSA diagnostics perform a complete check of your system hardware. The ePSA is embedded in the BIOS and is launched by the BIOS internally (from the advanced boot menu). The embedded system diagnostics provide a set of options for particular devices or device groups allowing you to:

  • Run tests automatically or in an interactive mode
  • Repeat tests
  • Display or save test results
  • Run thorough tests to introduce additional test options to provide extra information about the failed device(s)
  • View status messages that inform you if tests are completed successfully
  • View error messages that inform you of problems encountered during testing

Launching the ePSA Diagnostics

  • Tap F12 key repeatedly during system startup (at the Dell logo screen) until the BIOS Boot Menu appears on the screen.
  • On the Boot Menu screen, select Diagnostics option, and then press Enter.

Just saw your screenshot and that's very similar to what I saw except I had at most 20 blocks on the screen.

I noticed those as well recently.  I have an Inspiron 15-7579 and after getting it back from repairs for a different screen problem, I saw those for a couple of days and a few times since.  I think it was only with YouTube.  I watch a lot of Netflix and stream local TV without seeing them.

To me they looked like lots of random placed little blocks with ragged edges/bits missing/black pixels etc.  They don't look like a video compression artifact after a dropped frame. Fractals is a good description.

I originally saw them on my laptop screen, but I think I have also seen them on a USB -> HDMI Adaptor.

They don't happen very often though.

Same problem here, even after a fresh windows install... All diagnostics report no issues :/

Having the same problem on my 7577 as well. In addition, the video would often freeze up my computer for a few sec and I'd either have to press Ctrl+alt+del to get it to play normally again, or wait til it's back to normal. It's funny bc mine has a GTX1060 maxQ so this should never be a problem. My Dell Assist test  also came back as Passed for both video cards so idk what could be the issue.

I've also been noticing these while using the edge browser, not sure if it is browser related though.

I noticed the same on my 7577 (GTX1060). Until now I only noticed it on YouTube, on Google Chrome, and only rarely.

I hope this just a driver problem and not hardware related.
