DELL OME 3.7 does not update server current firmware version
Hello,
after patching Dell server via OME, under firmware it doesnt show it is updated. after I deleted and readd the server then I see the correct version of each component.
is there any resolution for this?
I do not want to re-add all the time the servers after patching!
thanks

Commodoree,
Lets confirm a couple things, to isolate what the issue is.
How long are you waiting after pushing the update, for it to be present?
If you were to leave it, does it eventually change?
If you push an update and then leave the FW Baseline section, does it then show correctly? If it doesn't show the update, then run Inventory.
I ask these as I think the issue may be that OME just needs to run Inventory, which it does once a day.
Let me know what you see.

Hello Chris,
After upgrade completed I check the device firmware tab to verify if the server updated., and I see not the updated version.
My colleague told me this is a known bug in OME. but decided to find a solution.
How to run inventory on daily basis?

I have seen the same thing in our OME deployment. The only way I have been able to get them updated was to delete and re-discover them . Forcing an Inventory or waiting overnight doesn't seem to fix the issue.

Most servers will either have a sticker or label on the server, or on newer servers it is on a pull out tab.
If you still can't locate it then let me know fhe server model and I can let you know where it is.

I am aware, the reason I was asking was for possible escalation options.

Hi Chris
This is not a specific for a server. whole servers in OME are having this issue.

Hi. We have the same issue. Updated servers are still showing as they still need the updates.
We tried with resetting iDRAC, rebooting OME but nothing works.
The only thing that works is removing and rediscovering the updated servers which is a bit annoying. Since we have them grouped and then we have to add them to the correct groups after rediscover.
We are running Version 3.8.2

@Commodoree @SraufstukovJanci
Could you please let us know when Firmware Update is performed on the target device,Does the target device is rebooted post running the update.
Secondly under Monitor > Jobs Page > Select Source = All and verify if "Post Inventory Task for Update" is completed or failed.
Thanks,

Hi. The device is rebooted post update or for the update during BIOS, etc updates when reboot is required.
What i found additionally is that if Automatic restart is selected then the status refreshes most of the times but still fails on some servers (all tested/updated were R630 or R640). If Manual restart is selected then it fails every time. Also manually running Check Compliance after the server is updated and back online returns that updates are stil needed. IDRAc on the server shows that the new versions are installed.
Post Inventory Task for Update Failed messages are present on Jobs page.
Messages:
Running
The Inventory operation failed. Inventory details were not provided by device.
Please retry refresh inventory for the device.
Task Failed. Completed With Errors.
Regards.

You need to run the Default Inventory Task from Jobs to update current device inventory. It will pickup the new firmware version(s) and report back correctly. It will also also auto-update/run at the next scheduled 24-hr interval. Hope that helps!
