How do I disable certain alerts?

Page 82 of the guide shows how to ignore alerts so that type is not reported in the future. 

I unchecked the Show Expired Warranties box so we'll see if that also stops the emails.  But that's just one example.  We get alert emails all the time that we're trying to clean up so we don't get emails for things we don't want.  All the emails have a Message ID on them, but searching for that same Message ID in the Alert Definitions section never returns any results.

How do we locate the source of a specific alert so we can turn it off if it's something we don't want to get alerted on?

They should be the same, the message id should say what component caused the alert. What version are you using?

Well, as a really hokey work around, I can find an alert I don't want to get emailed about and click Ignore on it.  I can then open up the newly created Ignore Policy and it will show me the Category info on where the alert came from.  I can then use that information to edit my own Alert Policy and uncheck the Category in question.  I can then delete the Ignore policy since I don't need it any more.

But, that doesn't answer the question in my OP about the Message ID.  The alert emails have a Message ID in them but that Message ID doesn't exist when I go to the Alert Definitions section within OMEnt.  Is this a bug or is something just not working properly for me?

Does the alert definitions show anything?

It shows a giant list of various alerts.  The sorting by clicking on the Message ID header doesn't work.  It only seems to sort the current screen and not the whole list.  Clicking Advanced Filter and the typing in a Message ID returns no results.  It's as if the alert emails are using different Message IDs than the alert definitions are.

Maybe it's not supposed to be the same but since they're called the same thing, I am assuming that they should be.

I'm on 3.3.1.  Any alert email that I receive has a Message ID on it.  Some of them are: RAC9000, DW9000, VLT0204.

If I go into Alert Definitions and click Advanced Filters, there is a field called Message ID Contains.  If I put the Message IDs from above into the filter box, The VLT number returns a result but the other two do not.

The VLT0204 that does return a result only says it comes from Category System Heath and Subcategory Voltage.  However, it I then go to my Alert Policy and want to UNCheck that option to not get the VLT0204 alerts any more, I can't because there are 13 top level Categories that all have a System Health option underneath them and I have no idea which one it's coming from.

It just seems like parts of OME aren't configured the same way as other parts and there's a disconnect between this information.

I think i found the setting to disable the DW9000 Device Warranty notification.

Assuming you have setup email alerts, you have to edit the alert policy. the setting in question is residing in category "application => configuration => device warranty". just uncheck this and you should not receive mails regarding this topic.
