Not receiving alerts
Hello,
I just installed and started configuring OME. I was able to discover all my Dell server and storage devices. Email is working since I was able to do a task Discovery email alert when the discovery job was done.
During the discovery there is a Dell server R320 which has a failed drive and a yellow "!" under the device listing. I setup an alert policy to email me when there is a severity level of warning, critical or unknown error and have selected Application - system health, Dell Storage- all the options
As mentioned, email works as I have received notifications from discovery jobs completions. The alert policy is enabled.
A few questions though are the following: If the warranty is expired on the server, will email alerts still trigger? Also if the device with a failed drive was a Dell Quorum server and it shows as "unknown" model type, will alerts still trigger?
Is this the proper way to setup alerts? What am I missing

Email alerting should still work, the only features of OME that are license based are configuration options, so I'd expect this to continue to function.
As for your other questions, I'll have to get back to you. My shift is wrapping up and I'll need to look into it.

So, OpenManage Enterprise (OMEnt) should be able to work with the Dell Quantum boxes, it appears. Likely, there is a configuration issue somewhere. Have you done any configuration in the iDRAC of the server, or just the appliance? Did the alert in question make it to OMEnt's log, but not email, or did the alert not get recorded at all?
I was thinking that there was a configuration guide to set up alerting, it may be in the manual, but I'll look around. You should just need to set up the SNMP trap with it pointing at the appliance and OMEnt should just need it's email alert policy configured. A little bit more detail about what you're seeing may help establish a starting point.
