OME 3.4.1 and patching FX2 chassis

Hi,

Apologies if this has been asked before, I did check but didn't see it.

I'm patching around 30 FX2 chassis with OME, I'm finding that OME reports the chassis patching as successful, however upon physically checking the chassis afterwards still on the previous version?

The FX2 chassis version is the buggy v2.20 and I'm trying to patch up to v2.30?? has anyone else seen anything like this?

Manually patching 30 chassis is possible but painful

Many thanks

Hi,

I'll try to help you to solve this issue.

- You means OME for Openmanage Enterprise or Openmanage Essential ?

- What is the version of your OME installation ?

- What is the model of your FX server ?

- Is the 2.30 version expected for the IDRAC firmware ?

- Are you patching through a LAN or a WAN ?

- Is it an Internet (https://dell.to/3cKEb4o) or a local repository .

- have you check the OME logs for these update task and/or IDRAC logs?

Please share any screen that could help

I remain at your disposal

Regards,

Thank you for this replies.

About WAN or LAN, what is your network context? Is OME in the same network than the FX?

I ask you that because WAN isn't supported for upgrade.

Please let me know then I would investigate further.

Apologies for the misunderstanding, but what Stephane said is correct. The appliance is able to push updates out over the WAN, as you said (and from what I've seen, works fine for most), but it isn't something that is officially supported. That update uses TFTP and I've seen in WAN scenarios where sending the traffic through something like a load balancer or a firewall resulted in issues. I'm not saying that is necessarily the issue here, but it's a possibility you might investigate.
