Script Execution is not working OME

Hello!

I have Dell Open Manage and set the remote script execution on one of VM to send me data when something happens at my servers.

I always get the "Failed" status with the error:

"Messages:
Running
Unable to perform the management task on this device because the device is not onboarded.
Task Failed. Completed With Errors."

But I connect the VM to OME and the SSH CLI working properly,

Please help me. The script that I want to launch at VM very simple(now I want just to receive alerts on VM, it puts the string in file).
I'm using the username/password to log in SSH(it is correct 100%).

Hello,

it seems like a idrac firmware issue.

Please can you provide the models and idrac firmware and BIOS version on the onboarded systems in OME?

Thanks

You may do not correctly understand what I mean.
I have Dell OpenManage Enterprise, I configured Alert Policies to execute remote script on every single action that occurred in OME and monitored servers:

This script do not executed on the VM. At the same time the Email comes correctly, I get dozens of emails when something happens.

On this screenshot, it's failed 2 times, because I manually restarted job.

VM that holds the script:
CentOS 7
firewall is fully disabled

The error says the device isn't onboarded, which if it's talking about the VM it's definitely not, as you can run the Scripts against alerts for devices that you have discovered

1) Hardware Alert comes from Server

2) Script Executes based on that detail

So would you confirm, is the VM in question doing the alerting?

Also, what version of OpenManage Enterprise are you using?

Any solution on this yet? I am getting same error but while creating a Template from a test DELL PowerEdge server. Sometimes it work but most of the time creation of template thorough Ansible AWX script fails.

Hi,

The error message you're encountering, "Unable to perform the management task on this device because the device is not onboarded," typically indicates an issue with the device's configuration in Dell OpenManage Essentials (OME). It suggests that OME is unable to perform the management task because the device (in this case, your Dell PowerEdge R440 server) is not properly onboarded in OME.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  1. Check Device Discovery: Ensure that OME has successfully discovered and added the Dell PowerEdge R440 server to its inventory. If the server is not discovered or properly added, you may need to rescan or re-discover devices in OME.

  2. Verify Credentials: Confirm that the credentials used for device discovery and remote script execution are correct. This includes the SSH credentials for CLI access to the server and any iDRAC credentials if they are required.

  3. iDRAC Configuration: Make sure that the iDRAC (Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller) is properly configured on the PowerEdge R440. Verify that the iDRAC is accessible over the network, and the firmware version is up-to-date( https://dell.to/3QuAx0K ).

  4. Device Onboarding: Check whether the server is properly onboarded in OME. Onboarding involves configuring the device in OME and assigning appropriate credentials for management tasks. Ensure that you've onboarded the server correctly, specifying the iDRAC credentials and necessary access rights.

  5. OME Update: Confirm that the OME version you're using (3.9.0) is compatible with the iDRAC firmware version (7.00.00.00) on your PowerEdge R440. Sometimes, compatibility issues can cause problems.

  6. Check Ansible/AWX Script: If you are encountering the same error when creating a template through Ansible AWX, double-check your Ansible script or playbook. Ensure that the script contains the correct credentials and parameters for communicating with OME and the PowerEdge server.

  7. Network Configuration: Ensure that there are no network issues preventing communication between OME, the VM running the script, and the PowerEdge R440 server.

  8. Logs and Error Details: Look for detailed logs or error messages in OME and Ansible/AWX that may provide more information about the specific issue. This can help in pinpointing the root cause of the problem.

  9. OME Documentation and Support: If you've exhausted all troubleshooting steps and the issue persists, consider referring to the official Dell OME documentation or contacting Dell Software support via telephone for assistance.

with kind regards Martin/ Liebe Grüße Martin
