Snmp listener
I've changed the community string to what my organization uses and clicked the apply button but when I check the setting again the next day it has changed back to the default of public.

This is the listener for the incoming alerts in the openmanage console.

Try changing it to Custom, configure the Community String, then restart the application. After that let us know if it retains or reverts.
Thank you.

There is no place to define a custom setting. You just go into Application Settings - SNMP Listener. It's changed back to the default of public again.

Hi,
same here.
OME 3.5.0 (Build 60)
It is possible to alter the snmp community string to our needs (Application Settings/Incoming Alerts/Community). For a short while this is ok and the OME receives the snmp traps form the iDRACs.
But after a short while the Community resets to "public". From than all traps with the correct Community are ignored. As OME is the hardware monitoring tool for a huge environment this is absolutely unacceptable.
We've been close to an emergency because we have not seen the problem in OME.

Hello,
after checking i confirm that it is not possible to customize the SNMP community string, that should be set as "public".

Hi Marco,
please have a look at the GUI of OM Enterprise and open "Application Settings" / "Incoming Alerts" / "Community", you should see that it is possible to change the community string.
The problem is, that this setting resets to public automatically after a short while.

you are right sorry, it seems that the issue is related to SNMPv3.
"If SNMPv3 alert settings are configured before upgrading the appliance, you have to reconfigure the settings by providing the username, authentication passphrase, and privacy passphrase to continue receiving the alerts. If the issues persists, restart the services using the Text User Interface (TUI)."
Please can you try to uncheck SNMPv3, then change community string and enable again SNMPv3?
You can check also this conversation:

Thanks

We don't have SNMPv3 enabled.
I saw a strange behaviour. If you switch to the site "Incoming Alerts" and as long the site is loading you can see that SNMPv3 is checked and that the community might is public. But when it is completely loaded, SNMPv3 is unchecked and out private community string is inserted.
But tomorrow the community string will be "public" again, for sure.

BastianP,
I've also noticed that if I change the the Alerts - SNMP and Email Settings - Community String on the iDrac it is also resetting to back to public. Have you seen that? Maybe they are related.
