Unable to parse Catalog xml

Hello,

I recently updated my OME to v4.6 and my Repository Manager to v3.5.0. Before that my firmware baselines worked fine (one with enterprise catalog, one ESXi catalog) and were able to sync OME <-> DRM Share.

After the update only the repository based on the enterprise catalog was able to sync. The other one for my ESXi hosts failed with the following error:

Running

Processing repository information.

Attempting to connect to repository.

Catalog downloaded successfully.

Failed to parse catalog. Please delete and retry again. If issues persists, contact support.

Task Failed. Completed With Errors.

Any suggestions?

user_a,

OME and the Update Manager plug‑in are stricter about catalog schema validation starting in the 4.4+ timeframe, and ESXi solution catalogs are more sensitive to malformed, partial, or unexpected metadata blocks than the Enterprise catalog.

Now due to this Dell now recommends managing solution catalogs directly inside OME Update Manager, rather than exporting ESXi catalogs from DRM.

Why:

  • Update Manager natively understands ESXi solution catalogs
  • Avoids DRM export → OME re‑import parsing path
  • Actively supported long‑term

Actions to resolve:

  1. OME → PluginsUpdate Manager
  2. Create new repository
  3. Select ESXi Solution Catalog
  4. Do not import from DRM

This bypasses the DRM→OME parsing stage entirely, and should allow you to proceed.

Let me know if this helps.
