Using S3 storage for catalog management

Hi

I have created a S3 bucket called dellopenmanage.s3-website.mydomain.com, presenting this bucket as a static website over http.

Adding the path into OpenManage Enterprise 3.4.1(build 24) the "test connection" is successful. However the next operation where OME reads and create catalog fails.

Checking debug log shows that OME resolves the "dellopenmanage.s3-website" to the correct IP-address but tries to use the IP-address when downloading the catalog.xml file.

IP-address cannot be used when accessing a S3 Bucket as far as I know, and OME fails.

Opening the "http:\\dellopenmanage.s3-website....\catalog.xml" works in a web-reader, but http:\\"IP-address"\catalog.xml will return "invalid bucket name".

Can OME be configured to NOT resolve name to IP?

Will S3 / http storage be implemented in later versions of OME?

Regards

Mats B

Hello mb_sweden,

I'll have to do some checking if S3 storage can be used for catalog management. I'll let you know what I find out.

Hello mb_sweden,

So there's no way to really force it.  S3 is Amazon Cloud storage so makes sense why it's Name only.

Basically it's a Feature Request. If you Private Message me you service tag I can send it to my L3.  We wouldn't know if it was accepted as a feature enhancement unless we see it in a future release.

Hello Mats,

I received the service tag, thank you. I'll submit that up with the feature request.
