View Workstations in OM Enterprise

Question

Hi,

I'm currently looking into upgrading from Openmanage Essentials to Openmanage Enterprise, we have managed to add iDrac's without issue however would like to be able to monitor workstations via this platform, I understand this was not initially supported however believe it should be possible to add via SNMP/WSMAN?

I've attempted both protocols however keep falling back to error EEMI Code: CGEN1013.

With WSMAN I have ensured the port is correct/services enabled & running.

Is any one able to shed some light on this?

You are right, workstation and and laptop are not in the OME compatibility matrix.

I just find this solution/workaround that could work : use the WMI protocol and be sure you have the Dell Command instrumentation installed on the laptops so they can report back inventory, etc.

Hi,

you can read into the manual on page 83 which protocol could be used for discovering.

First be sure that Dell Command suite is installed into your workstation

Hi,

this process was probably used for OME but the old version called essential.

I'm not an Openmanage enterprise specialist but if you can find a similar protocol on Enterprise try to use it. Otherwise you have for the moment to use the essential version for your workstation discovery project.

Ah that was my suspicion, it appears WMI isn't an available protocol within OMEnterprise. Thank you for you all your assistance.
