Adding a MD3200i to OpenManage Essentials 2.0.1
Hi,
I have tried to add a MD3200i to OpenManage 2.0.1 using an SNMP community and the Enable PowerVaul MD array discovery but the device isn't being discovered correctly. Can someone guide me through this process do I need MDM installed on an admin machine and that device added to OSME, where does the CLI tool need to be installed?

Hi and thanks for the post.
You should be able to enter the IP address of the MD array and ensure you have the MD array discovery checkbox checked in the discovery wizard.
Does it show up under the Storage node in the device tree?
There is a whitepaper on the delltechcenter.com/ome page called: Making My Environment Manageable for Dell OpenManage Essentials that talks a little bit about the setup from the standpoints of setting it up for alerts.
You might also try the Dell Troubleshooting Tool (installed on the OME desktop to see if you are able to contact the device correctly. There is a modular disk array test.
Thanks,
Rob

I discovered our arrays simply by creating an discovery range, adding the san's into and using the "Enable powervault MD array discovery" option.
I don't think you need MDM on the openmanage box (although it is installed on mine, as it's my management box).
What Firmware are arrays running?
