Dell Open Manage Essentials 1.2

Dear All,

I used to use OME 1.1 & later upgraded to version 1.2. It was working without any problems. I was unable to use the support tool inside the 1.1 after installing the 1.2. But i was unable to do so. It kept giving error message that the old install needs to be uninstalled. I was unable to uninstall the old support tool as well.

I left it & continued using the OME. Then i saw the upgrade patch of version 1.2 & whilst installing the same get the error Error 1402. Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\139C3899EB73E6C3DA23B8E687B98618\86E1F....... I have not completed the complete digits. I then tried uninstalling the OME & re-installing the same, but the error that support tool needs to be uninstalled came up, where as the support tool is not present in the list of programs. Is there a clean uninstall utility available for removal? I tried the MS uninstall tool, but it has not helped. The install gets stuck in the same place.

Please note that I am trying the install by taking remote desktop to the server & logging in as Administrator.

How can i get around this & do a clean install of the OME & its patch? Please advise.

Thanks & Regards,

K. Ramaswamy

Hi Ramaswamy,

A couple of questions:

  • When you say support tool is it Dell Support Assist?
  • When you say you were not able to use it, what was going wrong?
  • Can you give us the exact step where you are seeing this message of old install needs to be uninstalled?
  • Did you get the Error message 1402 during upgrade to 1.2.1 from 1.2?
  • Are you able to see MIB import tool installed in the installed program list? MIB import tool also needs to be uninstalled for uninstalling OME.
