Dell Open Management Enterprise 4.6
Issue: I setup alerts and I'm not receiving alert emails.
Tasks I performed:
1. In application Settings I setup SMTP with our relay and successfully tested and received the email.
2. I went into alert policies and started going through the wizard.
3. I set up the iDRAC category by checking system health and everything under system health.
4. Message Id i did not enter anything and just clicked next.
5. Target i selected my group which contained about 12 servers.
6. Date and Time i checked all of the days of the week i left time interval uncheck and left the time set by default 12:00am to 12:00am.
7. Severity i checked info, normal, warning and cirrital
8. Actions i checked email, subject default to my email from domealerts@dell.com and message as default event occurred for device name:$
9. Summary looked good to me.
I went into my datacenter and pulled one of my power supply's on a server in my alert group but didn't receive an email.
Can anyone suggest a solution.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi,
I did read that you mentioned in 1., that you have tested the SMTP configuration and done the Send Test Email, to confirm you did receive email from OME, which means there isn't any issues with port and SMTP.
I read here that, to leave out any configuration done in Date and Time: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-my/000182281/how-to-configure-alerts-and-troubleshoot-alerts-in-openmanage-enterprise#:~:text=Step%201:%20Receive%20SNMP%20Trap,Authentication%20and%20SSL%20for%20testing., let's try that. Next to test again, sending a test alert trap from iDRAC, if it doesn't work, the article did mentioned try checking to switch Authentication and SSL for testing.

Hi,
How about trying the Date and Time by selecting only on the days, unselect the Time Interval.

Hello @mkalinowski4, could you please confirm whether OME originally received any alerts from iDRAC? If the system is still under warranty, Technical Support can quickly review everything with you during a remote session.

The OME is a clean build of 4.6 so setting up alerts is part of my configuration process. I was able to discover hosts and update hosts with the newest drivers. just this alerting is giving me a hard time.
None of the servers are under warranty

For OME to receive alerts, every target server's iDRAC must be told where to send them.
Enable Alerts: In the iDRAC web interface, go to Configuration > System Settings > Alert Configuration and ensure Alerts is set to Enabled.
Set Destination: Go to SNMP Traps Configuration and add the IP address of your OME appliance as a destination.
Community String: Ensure the community string (default is usually public) matches what OME is expecting. This is case-sensitive
Before troubleshooting the email side, confirm OME actually saw the event.
In OME, go to Alerts > Alert Log.
If the "Power Supply Removed" event does not appear here, the issue is the iDRAC-to-OME communication (check firewall port UDP 162).
If it does appear but no email was sent, the issue is with the Alert Policy or SMTP relay.
Category: Instead of just "System Health," try selecting All for testing to ensure no sub-category (like "Environment") is filtering out the PSU event.
Date and Time: You mentioned checking all days. For troubleshooting, try unchecking everything in the Date/Time section; if no times are selected, OME defaults to 24/7 coverage and removes potential "out of bounds" errors.

Hi,
Just to confirm, you mentioned OME actually able to display the event log when you did the test trap from iDRAC, but when you simulate the power supply failure, OME is not able to display the event? - Is iDRAC able to show the power supply redundancy lost event log?

Is iDRAC able to show the power supply redundancy lost event log? - Yes and I get an email directly from the iDRAC

@DELL-Joey C I have a similar issue and IMHO it's a bug in 4.6.0 build 59 (my version)
No matter what I do the "From" field in the email header is "admin@dell.com". This causes rejections from smtp servers like Microsoft, GMAIL and SMTP2Go.
The instructions for the software are wrong. If you go to Application Settings -> Alerts -> Email Configuration and enable authentication the problem still persists.
There appears to be no possible way to change the "From" field. I've been fighting this issue for three days now... roughly 15 hours.
Thoughts?

@JD1234_12 I did steps 1, and 2. I did the power supply test and its working. So, it was either step 1 or 2 or both that fixed it. You're the man Joey C thank you!
