iDRAC in Server tab and Server in Unknown tab
Hi there,
I have added a server and an iDRAC to OME, the server comes up with unknown status and the iDRAC comes up with green status but is listed under the "server" tab in the device tree, I have tried only adding the server and it comes up as unknown still and only adding the iDRAC puts the iDRAC back in the "server" tab thinking its a server.
I have deleted and added them in all ways I can think.
Any ideas on how to get the problem solved?
Running OME 1.1, iDRAC 7, windows server 2012.
Thanks in advance,
Cody

Hi Cody,
When you discovered the _server_, what protocol did you use?
If you used SNMP or WMI, what version of OMSA is on that box (required). You can also use the Dell TroubleShooting tool (installed on the OME desktop) to run an SNMP test against the server IP address to see if it is talking to OMSA correctly. If it is, the Server Administrator version will appear in the result set. There is a FAQ on www.delltechcenter.com/ome that has a section on server discovery with other tips also.
Thx!
Rob

Hi guys,
I used SNMP to discover the server, I did the troubleshooter and the result was:
SNMP
MIB-II (System Name) "SYSTEM NAME"
MIB-II (MAC Address) "MAC ADDRESS"
Inventory Collector (Agent Version) 7.2.0

Hi Cody,
Along with what Rob mentioned, which is the protocol that you used for iDRAC7 discovery and inventory? You can use Dell troubleshooting tool for verifying the connectivity to iDRAC also.

Looks like the Data Manager Service is not running, one last thing to try would be please restart the target server, after that the Data Manager Service should be up and running.

Unfortunately I cannot reboot the servers at this time, will keep you updated after I can.
Thanks,

Hi Cody,
Looks like the OMSA agent is not running properly on the target server. It will be a good idea to restart the OMSA services. After that when you try to connect through the troubleshooting tool, the output should be something like:
MIB-II (System Name) :
Server Administrator (Version) 7.3.0
Storage Management (Agent Version) 4.3.0
Inventory Collector (Agent Version) 7.2.0
The OMSA services on the target machine are:
DSM SA connection service
DSM SA Data Manager
DSM SA Event Manager
DSM SA Shared Services

Hi Pupul,
The last two DSMs are active but when I try start DSM Data Manager I get the error: Terminated Unexpectedly.

Hi Pupul,
So I restarted the server and the DSM SA Data Manager is still not able to run,
I have multiple other servers attached to OME and all of them have their DSM SA Data Manager disabled but they seem to be running fine in OME.

Hi Cody,
OME needs OMSA services to be running on the target serevr to get detailed information about the target server. I think its time you create a trouble ticket at support number 800-945-3355. They should be able to look at your configuration and help you out.
