OME 1.0.1 to 1.1 -- Concerns
We are currently running OpenManage Essentials version 1.0.1 and I would like to upgrade to version 1.1; however, I have some concerns with the Gen8 servers loosing support.
Question(s):
What exactly does supported mean? What type of functionality will be lost for an unsupported model?
I'm looking for specifics, but I will take what I can get.

Hi there,
For the 8G PowerEdge, you may lose support for IPMI 1.5 protocol in OME 1.1. Otherwise, the behavior should be the same.
When we drop servers off of the support matrix, we don't explicitly do anything to de-feature them, but we may not provide a fix if some issue is discovered that is attributed to the older server.
Even servers older than 8G still work ok as long as you have the correct version of OMSA installed. The IPMI issue mentioned above is the only thing I know of that came up on the 8G specifically.
