OME shows one device name as IP
I have a device in OME that will not show the device name entered in DRAC and keeps displaying the IP instead.
All other devices that have DRAC configured the same are showing the correct device name.
OME - 1.2.1.0
DRAC - 1.96
LC - 1.6.0.73
DRAC has been reset.
Server has been rebooted.
Device has been deleted in OME and rediscovered.
In DRAC I have ensured "Register DRAC on DNS" is checked, that the device name I want is in the "DNS DRAC Name" field, "Auto Config Domain Name" box is checked and after apply that "DNS Domain Name" field is populated just like all my other DRACs.
Any other ideas on how to get the device name to correctly show in OME for this device? I rely on data in the device name for my saved queries so it is important for that to work.

Hi Cameron.
Can you try this command ping -a . Does it provide you with the resoluted name. You can try nslookup as well.
If the name is resoluting to an IP address, that is the culprit.
Please try the command ipconfig /flushdns. This will flush the cache and check if nslookup now shows you the correct name. If still it doesn't, then you may want to check your DNS entry for the device.

We don't actually have ANY of our DRACs entered into DNS and all our DRAC connections are via IP in browsers, via ssh and entered in OME discovery so why are all the other DRACs able to have their DRAC network settings "DNS DRAC Name" show correctly in OME but this one is not?

That is also problem in our environment. None of our iDracs have DNS record and mostly OME recognized their hostnames (assuming that it reads from SNMP trap configuration), but few devices have only IPs as name.
Can you help me with this?

Hi Martin,
Try changing "Name Resolution" under "Discovery Schedule Settings" on "Discovery and Inventory" page, set it to NetBIOS instead of DNS which is set by default.
Please note: This change will impact name resolution for all devices that are discovered in OME and not just iDRACs.

I tried that but it didn't help for all devices. Few PDUs still have IP as name.

Specifically for PDUs, what does it show for MIB-II system name when tested using Troubleshooting tool?
