OME/ESX 4.1 questions.

Hello all,

I am new at OME. Please, help me with these questions.

1. How to install OMSA to ESX 4.1 host and guest.

2. On the guest, Windows 2008 R2 installed and I installed OMSA (windows version) and enabled snmp service. However, From the troublshoot tool, I tested it with snmp and got SNMP result " MIB-II system name".

Thanks for your post.

You will install OMSA on ESX 4.1 host and not on guest VM since OMSA is mainly for hardware monitoring and monitoring hardware is not really applicable to guest VMs. You can follow the white paper on the OME wiki which should guide you with the OMSA install for ESX.

OME does not support guest monitoring as it is hardware monitoring and management tool. It will allow you to monitor your hardware by discovering the host. You will have to enable WS-MAN protocol in the discovery wizard and discover the host.
