Checking Flare Version

I'm going to show how little I know about EMC products.  How do I check the Flare version on my CX600?  I am trying to set up IT Assistant and am having problems with the EMC connectivity test connecting to the Navisphere agent, and need to verify my Flare version.

There are a few options, but here are 2:
    - In Navisphere, right click the array itself, go to properties and then the software tab
    - with Navisphere CLI you can do a "navicli -h IP_of_either_storage_processor getagent". This will come back with an agent version, but also with the flare version.

The flare version will be formatted something like 02.xx.y.60.5.zzz (up to release 12) or 02.xx.600.5.zzz (starting at release 13). The xx is for the version (add 7 to this number if it's 07 or lower to get the release version number, if it's 16 or higher, the number is the release version number). The y is for whether there's accesslogix or not. The zzz is the patch level.

Ok, so my revision is 2.05.1.60.5.009, which if I'm reading correctly means I'm running Flare version 12?  Is the AccessLogix 1 for yes, or 1 for no?

Obviously, my version is very old.  What is the most cost-effective way to update this to a more current release?  Although the system functions fine, I can't help but believe I would benefit from an upgrade.  Thanks...

I totally agree!  But Microsoft doesn't charge me thousands of dollars to upgrade with patches and hotfixes.  :smileywink:

That is correct, 02.05.1.60.5.009 is release 12, patch 009 with accesslogix.

This is really old. If you intend to keep the system in a production environment it's best to contact your Dell salesrep and request a quote for a flare upgrade.

Think of it like this; how often do you apply hotfixes and patches to your servers to prevent issues? Why would you not update your array at least once a year as well to keep it up to date?

Yes they do, they call it upgrading from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003, and later; upgrading from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 ;-).
