Best way to OC the 630i

Hey,

I'm recently trying to OC my 630 to around 3ghz. I have red about it, and it should be easy doable with stock volt and cooler.

But as i tried, i coudn't do it the old way.. trough the bios. Simply because i can't find anything there that alows me to adjust the FSB...  I can change the volt, the mem, etc.. but not the FSB

So i tried the Nvidia tool.. but that is really anoying. I reached 2.7ghz with no prb, but as soon as i hitted 2.8, it still loaded to windows.. but then the whole screen just froze and you coudn't do anything. The only way to undo it, was to go to save mode and delete the profile you made in the Nvidia tool.

Have any of you have experience with Oc'ing your 630 and what result did you get? And especially, how did you managed to get it?

Kind regards,

it's cool(hehehe)we might have some here at the house.

interestingly the guy at fry's said his roomate uses the 500 and he suggested putting it together and run it OUTSIDE the case for a coouple of hours to be safe.  everything else online, reviews, and instructions says 1,2,3 cool, cool, cool.  yer good to go.

what do you think?  better safe then sorry?  i guess alot will depend on how easy the rest of the tube install is when it's full of water!

also, any ideas on the whacked out fsb thing i got goin' on?

some pics of the 500 to follow, got set the camera and tripod up!   weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!   TOYZ!!!

i'm puttin the new toy on the desk to open it and snap some pics for us.  i happen to glance down at the sys tray and look at the pretty temp lights and i see not one, but TWO 36*'s!  first time since i've plugged it in that i've seen one of those.  is the stock hsf and 90mm push mod fan gettin' b;ut hurt about gettin' nixed???

is the DeathStar, alive?     i have to laugh!

I'd rather be safe then sorry, and go with actual distilled water.  I actually meant to respond with that and remind you when you had first posted you might stop by Frys - sorry I forgot...

Sorry m$ - you've already tried everything I could think of.  Maybe your mobo, CPU or RAM have gone bad somehow?  I've got nothing here...

OK,  To; the following, xps420oc, rambler, skimmy & ruski.

here's what i did and i tried to do all your suggs individually and cover all suggs.

i did:

volts increased to what 420oc stated;

multiplier x10 & x11

c1ef enabled & disabled

mem v 2.2

at the following bus speeds;

1340

1360

1400

1420

AND 1334.

all of these either wouldn't boot, post or make it to log in before either a bsod lock, a bsod with auto restart, boot and no post, or any combo of the above you feel you can put together, i saw them ALL.

also the current stable oc worked with the increase V's at both x10 & x11.

is there some place that says, hey unlock the fsb so you can use it goin' up???  i mean xxx1 up on the fsb should be nothing!  i can't run anything not even x10 with it at 1334

BUT

change it back to 1333 and i'm bullet proof!

i'm am totally bewildered and stiemeed:(  is that a word.

i need some happiness right now, sooooooooo, time for a bud light and to at least open the Nautilus 500, while i'm waitin' for any replies:)

thanx again, alot, guys for the thought and help in helpin' the blind, frustrated, learnin' more about comps everyday, sometimes irritable, sometimes mouthy, NOOBIE, with the DeathStar!!!!

Sorry to hear...  At least you got yours locally, so not too much hassle of a return if you're close to the store.  Newegg should have mine to me on Monday hopefully.

Don't know what to say about the OC bit, but I had the problem and it cleared up.  Of course, I did get a mobo and CPU replacement.

OMG, now i'm reeeeeeeeeally bent out of shape.  i open the 500 box and i'm lookin' at it and it's scratched.  and it looks cracked in about 3 places, and the underside screws are loose.  this is USED!  :( it's got to go back and oh you should see the 2-4 big PITS/GOUGES in the water block flat surface!  it looks like someone used it for a jump rope weight, at the bottom of the U!

man, just my luck.  it was the only one in the store:(

no luck with the liquid,

and no luck with the earlier oc:(

not a good night, so far.

Its the board. The 650i is not that great at overclocking. besides that its a dell 650i board.

Google "overclock QX6850 650i" you'll see.

I think i might upgrade the motherboard before i hit the water cooling. I just need the 730 specs mother board specs and price. If its a decent price and the size is cool. I might pop it in the 630.
