BIOS ERROR - Help!!

I now frequently get a bios error that freezes my XPS 400. It happens immediately when I run second life or plug in an iPhone.

I get the windows shutdown screen with the following under technical information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x00000000, 0xBA4EF7C8, 0XBA4EF4C4)

Beginning dump of physical memory...

I have upgraded the bios to the latest but it didn't help.

Any idea how I can fix?

Thanks

Dhead,

Since you can get online this website gives a troubleshooting checklist and advice for resolving Stop errors in general. As it states you may be able to find more info on the cayse in the Event Viewer if you can access the machine. Hope this helps.

Arrrgh. Just spent two hours looking through all this stuff and I am even more confused. No where does it list my specific error code. I have disconnected most of the HW connected and disabled most of the startup stuff. As soon as i plug my iPhone in I get the error.

I really don'tfeel like paying MSFT $60 to solve but I don't have the tech expertise to figure it out

Did this all start with the IPhone? New hardware/drivers/software is a prime culprit for this kind of error. If so I wouldn't call Microsoft. I would be yelling at Apple and AT&T. Let us know. You won't be the only person with and IPhone, just the first reported problem.

Talked to Apple. Seems to be a problem with the iPhone camera. If I delete all photos out of "camera roll" (the pics I took with the camera) it syncs without the error. I need to experiment more and get back to them to find a solution so that I can use the camera.

what you could do is remove the drivers and reinstall them after you restart the computer.

for example:

remove the drivers, restart the computer and then reinstall them, that might correct the problem.

Went to the Apple store and they figured it out. The Logitech web cam driver conflicts with other cameras and drivers and crashes PCs. We removed the software and it works fine now. There is a new Logitech driver that is supposed to work ok but I think I will just leave it unistalled.

its funny you saying that about logitech drivers, mine was crashing my PC with driver not equal or less or something to that effect, I uninstalled the drivers and the system is rock solid.
