Can´t run .exe files

Hi,

It would have been helpful had you named the virus NAV indicated was found; I was unable to find reference to the nbaj file at any of the AV Knowledge Bases. Some trojans, worms, and virii do create nonsense names to attach to this operation, so a specific name of the infection would be needed.

It would be my expectation that some damage has occurred and at this point you don't know how much. If you have made an emergency recovery disk set in NAV, I would boot with that and use it. The failure of .exe files to run in Windows would not be duplicated in a boot to the disk set, so you would be able to allow Norton to scan and attempt to repair the damage. If you have an NAV CD, recent versions allow you to boot to DOS using a boot disk with CD-ROM support and run a recovery procedure from the NAV CD. This will not have current definitions, however, unless it is able to access your definitions on the hard drive. I don't know how that works. At some point, as soon as possible, use current definitions and set NAV to manually scan all files, then do so.

Barring this, you may want to go to Symantec's AV Research Center and search for the name of your virus to see what instructions they can offer for manual removal. That site is here.

Good luck with it,

Kay
