Challenges after reinstalling system after crash

I have a Dimension 9150 that I had to install a new hard drive in due to disk failure. After loading the operating system (Win XP Pro) and the drivers from the Dell site (using my Service Tag) I find that the sound controls on the key board no longer work. The microphone jacks do not seem to work either. The Mike is good (I tested it on my lap top). Any suggestions?

The microphone now works, thanks.

Neither of the keyboard suggestions worked, I will continue to look for a driver disk in my collection.

Thank you for your help.

Glad one problem is fixed.

You mentioned you have 2 HID keyboard entries in Device Manager. Double-click on them and compare all the settings driver details etc on all tabs. If both are identical, right-click and uninstall one of them, then move the keyboard to a different rear USB port and reboot, with your fingers x'd.

:emotion-21: It was those x'd fingers!

Glad to have helped.
