com port

​ I have never had to do anything with com ports ​
​ does a guy have to activate or set them up to get them to work ​
​ or does mine just not work I need advice ​

The COMM ports can be enabled or disabled in the system setup.

my com port is enabled but doesnt seem to work any ideas

Posting your model computer and what problem you have might get more responses. Normally you don't need to do anything to activate com ports. Check your Hardware Device manager to make sure the com ports are not disabled. There's also a troubleshooter there that might help.

What are you trying to do with the comm port?
A direct cable connection between two computers?

i have decided there is something wrong with my port

I am having problems with my modem.  When I try to troubleshoot the modem in Help & Support, I am instructed to double-click Ports (COM & LTP) in the Device Manager, but "ports", let alone COM and LTP is not even listed there.  What am I missing? 
No Events found!
