What does happen when you power on? Can you hear anything from the PC (fans etc)?
Are the led's on the PC base unit lighting up? Have you checked the power cord to ensure you are getting power to it? Check that the PC to monitor lead is secure in the socket at rear of PC.

Hello

Yes, I have power to the computer, and the fan is spinning and the harddrive is starting up, but I don´t hear any POST-beep.

Glenn

If you not getting any beeps at all, this would suggest either the CPU or the BIOS. First step must be to replace the BIOS battery. Make absolutely sure you ground yourself out to avoid static before touching the battery, as the MoBo will be more susceptible to static damage than usual.

Also check the graphics card is seated correctly, as this is usually the first thing checked on startup, and if the MoBo cannot see the graphic card bios may halt the system.

at the back of the pc just above the mouse and kb sockets there should be 4 leds named abcd, now they should be all green if the computer is working properly, if some of or even one is orange you could be looking at a new pci card (but it would more than likely be a hw issue not a bios issue)either way call dell they will soon sort out the problem

Thanks for your help, but my hopes are over.
My computer died last night. Time of death is estimated to 22.30 local swedish time. I can´t even get the system to start up. It gets no power. I think I have to send it to Dell now for a complete makeover. Thank God for guarantees.

Glenn
