Dell Inspiron 24 3455 black screen on boot

Dell Inspiron 24 3455 only has a black screen when I turn it on. No sound, no curser and solid amber light. The graphics test button works. I have no clue what to do now.

The rear has an HDMI out port. Connect it to an external monitor via an HDMI to HDMI cable. Then, press the Input source selection button above the power button and choose HDMI out. Does the image appear on the external monitor?

When I plugin an external monitor via HDMI, the Dell start-up logo comes right up on my Computer screen and everything works perfectly.  Nothing comes up on the external monitor, but If I unplug it, I'm back to a black screen on my pc. Strange.

Plug in while everything is working perfectly and go into control panel and enable BOTH monitors.

Then restart.  After doing that shut down and remove the external.  Then what happens.

Yikes, after enabling both monitors, now I've got a black screen with or without the external monitor plugged in. Totally flummoxed.

I have the exact same issue as linv5800. Power button is solid white indicating no issues. No beeps whenI turn it on.. I can hear the fan running. Nothing on the display, and nothing when I hook up an external display and try switching the source. I was able to revive by unplugging all peripherals and the AC power, holding down the power button for 30 seconds to discharge everything, and then plugging the power back in. The first time I got a post screen and then nothing. The second time it booted up. I'm not of next steps. I don't want to just ignore that I had a major issue if something needs warranty repair. Suggestions from Dell on this one?

I tried what you did and no luck.  $239 to get monitor replaced via dell.  their tech support is telling me it is a bad screen.  ugghhhh
