Dell XPS 8500 recovery discs

I recently  had the 2 TB hard drive in Dell xps 8500 go bad It died /

I called dell out of warranty they sent first a usb I ran it and all it is windows 8 install on usd thumb drive

Next they send me windows 8 dvd install disc.

Both times Im prompted to windows product key now im out 19.99

What recourse do I have . Am i supposed to call and argue with dell out of warranty dept

They already upset about the number of calls i have made Im being told since it ask for windows 8 product key that its a issue with motherboard I installed windows 7 it ran ok.

Any advice be appreciated.

Assuming that you have installed a new hard drive and that you still have Windows 7 up and running. Can you install a program called RW-Everything. Then select Access and then ACPI tables and let me know if you have a SLIC tab and a MSDM tab. More details here:

Also let me know what sticker you have affixed to the system and what version of Windows 7 have you installed.

Not to mention that we told you what to try in order to solve your WiFi problem with Win 7, which is what's installed now.

So if you don't accept the help we gave you in one thread, don't start another...

You ordered recovery disc.

I don't know what else you were expecting.

And we already told you what you need to do about installing Windows 8 in that other thread too. Yet you persist in completely ignoring that advice.

You are wasting everybody's time.

Unless you choose to do something more productive than repeatedly complaining, you won't get very far.
