Difference between mobos G33M03 and DG33M03

Hey guys

I need a G33M03 (it's said it can hold any Core2Quad cpu) but there's a neat mobo called 'DG33M03' which I now aim.

Are those one and the same models, the DG and the G mobos?

Would they both support a Q8300 C2Q?

Thanks

Before replacing the motherboard, did you replace 300w PSU, with a 350w unit?

Sorry to say, I cannot see any reason why a clean reinstall of a 64-bit Win 8.1 will not work.

Have you tried using the following:

Placing the reinstallation disc in the DVD/CD/ROM and restarting the computer, you should see a black screen with a prompt "Press any key to boot from CD", press a key and the computer should boot to the reinstallation disc.

That message can pass quickly, so have a finger on the keyboard when you boot.

Bev,

Yes I replaced the psu with a 350w. I just figured out the problem. I just tried an e4500 core 2 duo processor and it is recognized by the motherboard. The fans run as they should. So do you have any idea why the board on 1.0.15 cannot recognize my core 2 quad? Q9650

Thank you!

Bev,

It's not the processor being bad, I tried two q9650 each of them them have the SLB8W on them. I updated the bios by downloading the vostro 400 1.0.15 bios and it updated from 1.0.13 with no errors.

I'm stumped.

Another reason I know the processor isn't bad is that I was able to boot into a 32 bit vista operating system and am able to boot from the 32bit disc. For some reason it seems to be incompatible with this bios or board.

I have no idea why the Core 2 Quad Q9650 is not recognized, because the Yorkfield Quad Core, Q9650, 3.00GHz, 12MB, 1333FSB, is listed as compatible, with the DG33m03/G33m03 motherboard, using BIOS version 1.0.15.

All I can think of, the processor is bad, does it have a SLB8W S-Spec number etched on it?

Bev,

Per looking though all dell forums on the subject and calling dell for the part number of the inspiron 530 mb (FM586). I plan on exchanging out my board Monday and test when it arrives. This links where I learned of another person sharing my issue.
