How should I clean inside my desktop pc?

I'm going to install a new drive, so I'll be in there anyway, may as well clean it at the same time.  I know it's very dusty.  Can I use a vacuum cleaner with a small tip then follow that with compressed air?  What maximum air pressure is recommended?  Obviously want to get the dust off, but also obviously don't want to blow components off boards either.  I have a garage air compressor with a regulator so I can adjust the psi output.

Peter.

I agree, having read the same articles myself, but as canned air is cheap, I figure, why take a chance and having to say, 'oops' afterwards.

Do you use a 120v vacuum cleaner to clean the components of your systems?

I know that small battery powered vacuum cleaners are made especially for computers.

Bev.

I haven't actually been tempted to clean the case with a large vacuum.   It seems like overkill, but it would keep the dust from flying around the room.  (I am tempted now to do some experiments to see if I can do any damage with a vacuum!)

Maybe we are just good house cleaners, but I have never had much dust build up.

Thanks for the inputs.
