Recent e mail!

I just received the following e mail from Dell.

File Watch has located a newly published file in the Dell File Library that
matches
your current registration profile.

File Title: Monitors: Dell M781p/M781mm Monitor, Windows 2000, Windows 95,
Windows 98, Multi Language, Multi System, v. 2.0, A20
File Date: 8/29/2000
Library: Monitors
File Size: 43008 bytes

When I check my documentation I see I have a Dell Model D 1025TM. So why do they say this matches my registration profile. Is this an updated video driver or a moniter driver. I don't know if I should install it or not. My moniter seems fine, but if this would improve it.
Thanks Mark

Mark,

File watch messages are generated based on the series of computer you have. I also have a D1025TM so the message doesn't apply to me either, but some XPS D___ computers had this monitor and that is the criterion that file watch uses to send out these messages. (With the computer power at its resources it seems silly that Dell can't maintain precise configuration data on each computer it makes, but that's the way things are.)

Since the configurations can span such a huge range of hardware, most file watch messages won't apply but I continue to subscribe just in case the one percent that might apply to my system comes up.

I love my Dell also. In the last two days I have received nine emails concerning updates on parts that are not on my computer...

Same thing here. Glad I'm not the only one getting these worthless File Watch messages. I really think Dell could do better.
