What memory can I use XPS 700 Core Duo extreme
What memory options do I have for the XPS 700? I know that Dell sells it with DDR2 667 PC5300. I have been unable to find many options out there for high performance ram. Does Corsair or any high end memory companies sell an alternative to the Dell ram? If so, what are my choices? I am fairly new to this and my questions are really these. Does it have to be PC5300? Does it have to 667? Are there any overclocked paired sticks that really perform well or am I stuck with Dell ram. Thank you for your patients with this novice question Dell cant seem to answer for me.

NOTE: See Addressing Memory Configurations in your service manual to verify the amount of memory available to the operating system.

When DDR2 memory is installed as a set of two where the parts are very similar (ie speed) they are able to operate in dual mode. If you have 2GB in the XPS700 then you either have 2x1024GB or 4x512MB.
Installing say another 1GB as a single mode resulting in 2x1024GB(Original) + 1024GB(New) will disable dual mode. While 2x1024GB(Original) + 2x512GB(New) or 2x1024GB(Original) + 2x1024GB(New) will allow dual mode.
