Dell OptiPlex 790 - Altiris
We recently purchased a number of Dell OptiPlex 790 machines. We have not been able to pull any images.
Image starts to deploy.
The driver Intel (R) 82579
Initializing Windows PE2
Loading registry settings
Loading reg2000.reg
Initializing network....
Loading drivers
Using Dynamci IP
Configuring firewall...
Firewall Disabled
Establishing network connection.
Validating IP addresses....
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 1
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 2
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 3
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 4
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 5
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 6
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 7
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 8
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 9
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 10
Restarting DHCP Client service: retry 11
This keeps going on and on...
We have managed to trace it back to the Intel (R) 82579 LM Gigabit Network Connection driver.
Driver is installed but when I go to view it in Altiris under drivers, the driver is not there.
PC has been rebooted and I have tried to load additional nic drivers with the same results.
Driver shows up on the PC under device manager.
Altiris states it's a problem with the driver and to get with dell support.
Anyone have any ideas?

I don't have a definitive answer, but I found a similar thread on the Symantec website that seems to address a very similar topic. Perhaps the ideas presented in this forum might solve your problem or give some insight:
