I worked in Dell shops for years and have constantly been updating a sysprep.inf and driver structure over time. The current version has the drivers for Latitutude d400/600/800 thru the current e series (e6510, etc.) and for all Intel Optiplex Desktops between GX270 and 780. We used Ghost at the last two organizations, so I didn't have tools like SCCM, Altiris, etc. So what I did was create a post-imaing routine where it auto-logged in to the local admin desktop after mini-setup ran. On the desktop is a shortcut called Finish Setup which launched a batch file with a menut. Selecting the model from the menu then installed the model-specific software (Quickset, Dell System Software, etc.) and updated the HAL appropriately. I created a batch file in the build directory that copies all of this stuff over to an image-build machine along with all of the drivers and sysprep.

Since I now wokr in an HP shop, I'd like to offer this stuff up to the Dell community, hoping it won't go to waste as I know there are a lot of you sitll using XP. With all of the drivers and utilities for all of those models, It's close to 4GB. If someone can point me to a place to upload it free, where it can be downloaded free, let me know and I"ll put it up there for you. As-is of course.
