Problems using PXE Ghost on Dell Optiplex 780...

Tried all different ways to get this working, Someone on Experts Exchange mentioned there is a BIOS revision that will fix this...Is that true? We spoke to our rep and Dell engineers and they seem to not know of this issue. Yet it is a very big problem, as we cannot efficiently put images on these machines (Dell Optiplex 780). If anyone got any insight on this fix soon, would greatly appreciate it. I'm sure that I am not the only one out there with this problem.

    "Problems using PXE Ghost" could mean a lot of things. Can you please elaborate?

    Are you booting and pressing F12? Are you getting a DHCP address? etc.

    On workstation, we would use F12 to boot from NIC card...

    The issue seems to be with PXE and/or TFTP. When the computers connect to PXE we select the the one we want from the menu and then it hangs on "Transferring Image File...".

    Sounds like you need to contact Symantec.

    I use WinPE+Ghost11 32 bits. No problem at all for Optiplex780 USFF and Slim tower to put WinXP sp3 image on them.

    Problem was due to an issue with the BIOS version A01, it was resolved after they release A02, and now there up to A04. So this had nothing to do with Symantec as the problem, was an issue on the Dell Bios.

    Well i got a new DELL 780 with A04 Bios & Ghost 11. I enabled PXE boot and its going into the Ghost Window. Now to push the image we need to connect to the Ghost Cast at that time its looking for DHCP server where it looks like the network disconnects and it never respond. so we get the error Possible network setup problem. Now how shall we fix this can anyone Help

    There are a good number of threads on this issue here and on other forums. It seems that the resolution is one of 2 things.

    1. BIOS version - you have that covered.
    2. Proper NIC driver in the boot media - It sounds like the generic 3Com driver works best with PXE.

    Well the 3Com universal driver is Universal PXE Driver UNDIS3C.DOS 10/100 PCI 3COM's Generic PXE Driver for use when remote booting the disk. We are already using that.
    Now how I solve the problem is by changing the Ghost Server PXE boot packet from PC-Dos to MS-Dos.
