Equallogic PS4210X pb snapshot

hi community

I have two volumes on my rack where we can see that the space of my snapshot reserve is used so I have no snapshot on these volumes.

I have looked for a solution on the equallogic community but without result.

Thanks for the help

Hello,

 You are very welcome.

Re: CLI.  No. There are no user commands that will resolve this.  The logs have to be analyzed to find the stale entries.  The a custom script created and uploaded to the array.  That script will then correct the database entries to remove the ghost snapshots and restart the database service.  The commands are internal commands not available at the Group CLI> or via the HIT/ME software.

That's the only way to correct this condition.

 Regards,

Don

Hello,

I am not understanding what you are asking or trying to do

If there is Snapshot reserve allocated to a volume, and Snapshot space is in use then there are snapshots.

If you could provide more details, that would be helpful.

Also, what firmware is that 4210X using?

A screenshot would be helpful also.

 Regards,

Don

Hello,

Thank you for replying.   That firmware is older.  There are two internal databases that track all volumes.  If the two databases get out of sync, snapshot space can be allocated but the name is not recorded properly in the other database.  Resulting in a "ghost' snapshot.  This occurs in older firmware, most often when using an older vesion of the Hotst Integration Toolkit for Windows (HIT/ME) v4.9.x.

I suspect you no longer have a support contract?    Opening a support call will be the only way to resolve this condition.  Depending on where you are located, you can open a one time support call for a fee.

A diagnostic report will have to be gathered an analyzed to correct this condition.

 Regards,

Don

once there was the introduction of a default snapshot feature which was enabled by default. At 12:00m or so a snapshot was taken. You only can disable it from the command line.
But this snapshot should be visible n the tree.

Correct. But since it does not show up its the mismatch between the two internal databases.  The one that knows about allocated space and the one that has the name and other related metadata.

The default snapshot scheduller just creates regular snapshots on volume with snapshot reserve, but no existing snapshots, and no assigned schedule.

hi
Thanks for the help and all the information.
yes I don't have a support contract with DELL anymore.
Is there any way to resynchronize these two databases either by a Cli command on the equallogic Bay or via HIT/ME under windows.

Thanks for your help
