Replication question

Hello,

we have two Equallogic PS4110, each of them on different site. Both are connected to 10 000Mb lan (for iSCSI connection to ESXI hosts - Poweredge ) which are both separated from the rest of the network. See schema of one site (both are identical) here:

My question is regarding replication of both EQL. Is it good practice for EQL replication to connect this 10Gb network to the rest of the network, or is it possible to conect equallogic PS4110 to external Lan directly ? (because the line between two sites is connected to external LAN where are rest of the servers)

Thank you

For performance and security reasons you should keep your iSCSI traffic isolated from your LAN traffic.

If you need to route between the iSCSI networks at the 2 sites, use vlans to keep the iSCSI traffic isolated from the LAN traffic.

Note: replication is between groups; you dont have to have any servers on the Replication network for replication to work.  Since group manager or cli can be done from the serial connection or the 10/100 NIC it does not need any servers on that network to run.
