Advice on EQL iscsi volume backup ...

Hi,
Just like in Vmware VCB you can mount a snaphost of the vmdk volume and back it up.
Can the same method be used to backup an iSCSI volume with user data on it ? The idea being:
the Backup software does a snapshot pre-backup and mounts the iSCSI volume snapshot
then it runs the backup of the mounted volume.
Finally the Backup software unmounts and delets the snapshot.

Could some tell if this is possible or if you are using a similar method to backup

Yes, Offhost backup can be done, and automated. CommVault, Symantec, and others have options. The link below has a document that covers the various backup scenarios. FYI -- it requires registration, but you can also access through support.equallogic.com if you have an account, which is free to existing customers.

    thanks Jeff,
the document describes what I'm thinking about. 'off-host' backup of iscs volumes. so that the backup server initiates the volume snapshot, mounts it, backup and then delete. without getting the file server invovled.
I've enquired from Commvault (our backup software) how we can do this as I can't much documentation on how to actually do what the document is describing.
    cheers
