Managing my NX1950

Hi, I want to be alerted if it is running out of disc space (my definition such as percent of space remaining or used) proactively so I don't have an unexpected problem. Does it come with this ability?

    Hi,

I have no hands-on experience with the NX1950 but I've listed three ways on how you can be up to snuff regarding hard drive usage and how to set percentage alerts on free disk space.

    * PowerVault NX1950 Management Console, File Server Resource Manager snap-in - here you can generate comprehensive reports on storage usage.

    * Windows 2003 Performance Logs and Alerts (perfmon.msc) - use Alerts to create an alert on a limit of free disk space. It can alert you by writing in the event log, sent a network message or run any program. You could for example use the freeware SendEmail if you want to send an email alert.

    * Dell Management Console (with this program you can set two thresholds by percent of free space and alert you in a number of ways)

Hopefully someone else with hands-on experience can give a more detailed answer.
