I am running a small hosting company and we expect that we need to buy new storage in about 6 months.
What I am looking for is some sort of virtual storage so costumers can rent nfs/iscsi/cifs from us per month. The important thing is that each costumer is on it's own vlan and I would prefer to have 10Gbit interface against the storage (with redundancy), an example is MultiStore from Netapp.
What can Dell provide?
Hey Veidit, we don’t have a product exactly like that today, but we have one targeted for mid next year. The EqualLogic PS6000 solution would be perfect for the iSCSI portion of the task. With its peer scaling capability, you would be able to grow the iSCSI capacity as he needs , while not decreasing the quality of service for performance. There are a number of NAS gateway solutions (i.e. NX3000) out there that could be paired with EqualLogic to build a solution for the environment today.
Yes, The GUI is web-based, and not to sound like too much of a biased vendor, but personally I find it very useful/intuitive. The EqualLogic guys (both before & after Dell acquisition) have done a great job of getting the word out through webcasts & demos, available here: http://www.equallogic.com/resourcecenter/democenter.aspx (Note on 9/22 there is a live demo of the EqualLogic PS Series) There are ' on Demand' webcasts here: http://www.equallogic.com/resourcecenter/eventcenter.aspx
