Welcome!   Sitting here in the cold and snowy Northeast, I've been dreaming of tropical locations but Costa Rica didn't come to mind.  Has to be better than snow, right?

Oups, I just realized that this thread is not a general one but only for (also couldn't delete the message)

Hello all...

Well I guess I am the first from Dubai, UAE! It is my first week at EMC Dubai. I am Canadian from Montreal but originally, Algerian.

I am a Practice Consultant, specialized in ITSM related projects as I hold a couple of certifications (ITIL v3 Expert, v2 SM, ISO 20k, etc...)

I would love to meet other consultants in the field; I'm sure we have a lot to talk about/share!

Hmmm... something people don't know about me? I love freediving and spearfishing on Week ends! If interested, when you come to UAE, give me ring, we'll go for a dive! ;-)

Cheers all,

MaD

Hi Amine! Maybe we should have a Google Map so people can pinpoint where they are from. Another ITIL geek, yay! (I have my v. 2 cert). You don't have to have a Proven certification to post here, no worries! Are you working towards one of them?

Welcome to the community, and I think you're right, you may be the first community member from EMC Dubai!  Next time I'm in the area, I'll be sure to contact you :-)

Is this your first week at EMC?  I'm just curious about how you found us.  Please reply to let us all know.

Alas, I have only a lowly Foundation level certification.  Before I came back to EMC I lived process in a pharma company though...does that improve my cred?

I'm not sure about opening an ITIL thread here, since this community is focusing on the Proven program. There is a pretty vibrant ITIL community on EMC|ONE though, I'll email you a link.

Hi!

Thanks for your warm replies!

It reflects exactly the feeling I had this week at EMC, Michelle. Even though I can feel the workload, seriousness and professionalism, everybody is so friendly and nice.

Gina, are you a Service Manager v2? Maybe we could open a new ITIL related discussion, don't you think?

Cheers all,

MaD

Yes, absolutely we can discuss ITIL. It is part of our larger training "agenda" and is an important part of the broader EMC efficient IT strategy. It you look at EMC.com there is a link from the home page to the efficient (green) IT section. Also, we have training managers here who specifically focus on ITIL offerings, which we feel support and compliment the industry best practice, but in our case, leaning towards Storage manager's issues in complex IT shops. So please ask your questions.

Thanks

Hi Amine!

I second Charles' statement that it's fine to also discuss ITIL! My colleagues Toby Morral, Carl Velt, and I develop and deliver ITIL education to EMC people and customers worldwide. Toby and I are ITIL V3 Expert certified and Carl is ITIL V3 Foundations certified, and is working toward advancing up the ITIL V3 "pyramid!"  We have several colleagues in the Educaton Delivery part of our organization who also teach ITIL Foundations worldwide.

Although most of the ITIL curriculum is not focused on the EMC Proven certification program, some of our courses in the Proven program do emphasize the importance of ITIL in positioning EMC products and designing solutions.
It's great that you've joined the Proven community and please also feel free to check out the EMC | One ITIL and IT Service Management Community. Toby Morral set it up and he and I monitor it regularly - you'll find that there is a wide variety of EMC people and experiences to share, and feel free to share yours!

Last year we rolled out our ITIL for Storage Services Management course in Dubai to a customer audience, with Toby and another collegaue teaching, and it was well-received. If you or your colleagues have any interest in learning more about our ITIL curriculum, we'd be glad to share more with you. Gina's certification resulted from attending our first ever ITIL class in 2007!

A long welcome but just wanted to chime in and say "hello!" By the way, Toby Morral is a diver and he might take you up on your offer if he is ever back in Dubai!

Best regards,

Stephanie Luz Abrams

Welcome to our community, do you have any EMC Proven Professional certifications, or thinking about achieving one?

Hello everyone,

Let me jump on this ship and introduce myself following the rules from first post.

1. I'm located in Croatia in Zagreb working from my home office, but I'm from Rijeka (also Croatia)

2. EMC NetWorker and pretty much everything around it - which makes a list rather big so I will skip it.

3. I'm really not that stubborn.  Really!

Welcome and dobar dan (hope I got that correct -- I meant to say "hello/good day").

I visited Croatia  (Dubrovnik) in 1987 and 1990 -- I would like to go back someday!

I only know a few words of Croatian so I figured I'd practice!

Hope you enjoy the community!

Until then, zbogom!
