One possible cause is that the HP-UX hardware path would change as Brocade has a different 'port' value to McData in the hardware path.

Example from ioscan:
McData - always has port value of 19:
0/10/0/0.36.10.19.1.0.3

Brocade - always has a port value if 0:
0/10/0/0.36.10.0.1.0.3

So what happened when you migrated from one switch type to another was that the host expected to see its devices (boot device in particular) down the same hardware path.

The new hardware path for your boot device must be defined at a HBA level so the host can see the boot device at power-on.

Hi,

Thanks for your help. We were able to see the devices. What we did we migrated one path at a time. We moved only one path and we were able to boot from SAN. Later we also move the second path.

Best regards,
