Pennessg, I don't have a best practice document but shoudl be able to clarify on the spurious entry in ESM.
The Snapshot and Clone features of ZFS are supported only through Sun. In other words we support EMC array-side solutions but just don't support the snap and clone features included in Sun's ZFS.
i.e. timefinder snap and clone operations are supported with ZFS, but the ZFS internal snap/clone features are not supported by EMC
