Inspiron 24-5459 No bootable devices found.

So my I tried to turn on my inspiron 24-5459 today but it would just say "Hardware scan complete with no issue found.." and under that it says "No bootable devices were found! Possible causes could be a corrupt OS image or a boot device is not enabled in BIOS setup." I am not very good with these type of things. Please help me.

This is the 5459 AIO, correct?

Version of Windows?

Reboot and immediately start tapping F12. Assuming the F12 menu opens, select the option to run diagnostics, including RAM and extended hard drive tests. Be patient, this may take a while. Copy error message(s), if any...

The 5459 AIO PC model has been around for a while, so when was last time you replaced the motherboard battery, if ever?

  • When pressing F12 and running diagnostics it shows me an alert with a QR code. The page says my hard drive is working out of normal parameters and should be replaced. Will I need to replace my hard drive?

Did the message give you an actual error code number? It does sound like the drive will have to be replaced. Sure hope your files are backed up elsewhere.  Instructions to remove/replace the hard drive are in the Service Manual.

You can try this: Reboot and immediately start tapping F2 to open BIOS setup. Use arrow and tab keys to navigate around. Look for the Boot options and make sure Windows Boot Manager is first in the boot list. If it isn't, make it first, then save the change and exit setup. Don't change anything else in BIOS setup. If you moved Windows Boot Manager to be first, see if PC boots now.

If that doesn't help, power PC on and then off when you see the Dell splash screen by pressing/holding the power button. Immediately power on/off again. Repeat the cycle 3 times and PC should open the Windows Recovery Environment.

Follow the RE prompts for Troubleshooting and look for a Startup Repair option. Run that and see if it can fix things so the PC boots. If it boots, back up your files immediately on an external USB drive.

If you end up having to replace the drive, you may be able to install the old one in an inexpensive drive enclosure that connects to any PC via USB to recover your personal files.
