Old Dimension 8600
Hi....new to this forum. I have an old Dimension 8600 I have been running as a photoshop workstation since 2005. It has the i7 processor. I have tweaked and updated it many times....am running a samsung ssd OS drive on windows 10 and two other internal drives for storage.
Also recently upgraded to 32GB of ram. I just uploaded the newest version of PS and it says my graphics processor does not have enough ram...so I am going to have to upgrade the card to get this to run right. Any suggestions on cards and personal experiences?

If budget is not an issue, you may consider GeForce 6800GT. It will be compatible with all new enhancement features in your Photoshop CS3. No performance lag when pairing with still considered viable Pentium 4 CPU in your rig.
You may want to run MemTest86 to see why your system only shows 3.2gb or RAM instead of 3.5gb.

Do you have a picture of this “Dimension 8600”? I am not sure I can find this model. I have Dimension 9100 which has LGA 775 socket ddr2 ram. If your pc has i7 32 gb it is probably ddr3 but afaik there is no such Dell dimension model.

My suggestion based on personal experience is to ...
If you are running Photoshop, I suggest you return the 32gb RAM and go ahead and purchase a new computer with:
Windows-11
Intel-i7 (or better)
A nice dedicated Nvidia or AMD video card (with 8gb or more of ram)
A NVMe-SSD (480gb or larger)
A powerful power-supply to easily run it all
If you don't have a nice monitor yet, I suggest a 27-inch Dell UltraSharp (or equivalent or better).
