0 W AC adapter detected
I have a Inspiron 24-3455 all-in-one computer that I have been using off and on for a while. Today I updated windows and some drivers. When the computer restarted I got this message:
Alert! A 0 W AC power adapter has been detected, which is less than the recommended 65 W adapter originally shipped.
The system will adjust the performance to match the power available. Please connect a Dell 65 W AC adapter or greater fir the best system performance. It won’t let me continue startup from the message. There is a button to shut down the computer, or after several seconds it shuts down on it’s own.
I have tried to load the BIOS settings, but when it looks like it might go into it it jumps to that error screen instead.
The computer was running fine before the updates. Any help would be great.

Hi all,
If you're facing this issue, please update your system BIOS to the latest version.

First thing to try is a new adapter -- make sure it's OEM.

Well my solution was simple.
I just removed the battery pack and powered up my notebook. Then I turned off the notebook replaced the battery pack and VOILA. The error message was gone.

Same issue here. purchased new Dell power adapter. Got a working again somehow. Now doing same thing. It’s not the adapter. Tried the hard reset by holding down the power for 15 seconds with all disconnected. Same issue. Check pins, look ok. Blew out power receptacle with aim in case debris was int it. Same problem.this is on a Dell all-in-one.

No battery in an all-I -one. It’s not a laptop/notebook/netbook.

Did that. Have a brand new 65 watt adapter from a new Dell. Worked for a while than got the message back.

My desktop all in one does not have a battery. It is now running on my new adapter from my new Dell Laptop.

Could this have anything to do with a new Tripp-Lite Isobar Pro surge protector?

Did you ever find a way to correct this?
I’m having the same exact problem, it’s so frustrating…let me know if you don’t mind.

@DELL-Nat M how would you update the bios if the computer will only come on to show you a message "Alert! A 0 W AC power adapter has been detected, which is less than the recommended 65 W adapter originally shipped"?

@DELL-Nat M Having a similar issue with an Optiplex 7010 micro. I was able to get to the Bios settings and disable the warning then did as you recommended and updated the system BIOS to the latest version. It's initial BIOS version was 1.2 so I updated it to each successive BIOS version until it was the latest version to prevent compatibility issues. Once it was the latest version, I went back to the BIOS settings, re-enabled the warning to see if the issue was resolved, and ended up with the same warning screen shortly after exiting the BIOS settings. Is this just a software issue with Windows? The PC looked to be working just fine when the warning was disabled and the adapter it is using is the one that the PC came with.
