Thank you but I cannot crash it to get a Dell logo. I have turned it oof, I have cut the power, I have closed the lid but as soon as I power it, I get the same screensaver that shows up from sleep.
When a critical error is detected in Windows, your computer restarts itself to prevent any further damage.
This is a safety measure that is integrated into Windows. To further analyze the STOP error, we must know the error code and information that is associated with the error.
This information is displayed when you turn off automatic restart. To turn off automatic restart, follow these steps:
Click Start
, then type "advanced system settings." The System Properties window appears.
Click the Advanced tab.
Under the Startup and Recovery section, select Settings....
Under System failure, clear the box next to Automatically restart.
Click OK, then click Apply and OK to complete the update.
Thanks for help. There was no error code and no way to reboot, crash or restart. No way to reach Dell logo. No way to shut off either by key or by cutting power. It was stuck in sleep mode with screensaver but blue screen in place of login page. I ended up having to take it in for repair.

Crash the Machine 2-3 times to access recovery options.
AS soon as machine passes dell logo hold power button to turn it off.
Once it has crashed 2-3 time it will show a repair screen and you can Choose advanced options.
You can try following in repair options.
System restore
Startup settings to get machine in safe mode.

Should I cut the power multiple times to attempt crashing it?
