Dell Inspiron 5502 error code

Inspiron 5502/5509

Inspiron 5502/5509

I've had this device for just over 2 years now. I'm getting a weird error code of which I can not find the code in the service manual. 1 amber followed by 4 white. That is after a CMOS reset after a day of this device refusing to show any sign of life. The touch display is no longer working, but the display does work. When in the bios running a full system test it said 'Cables: Failed'. However upon looking inside the system for a second time, I do not immediately see any cables that may be damaged or unplugged. Attached is a photo of the error code I received after the bios system check.PXL_20230505_183903040.MP.jpg

Background info on this system:

I paid $750 for this computer in late April of 2021. I had a issue in February of 2022 that required me to send this device in for repairs. Last April I decided to extend my warranty with dell due to a fear that this system would have issues again. I decided against it this year do to a tighter budget and a thought that these issues where gone permantly. It appears I may have made the wrong call.

The 1,4 error is a faulty battery.

The other issue is likely a damaged or loose display cable.  Service manual here:

Unplug and reconnect the display cable(s).  Before doing so, disconnect the battery from the system board and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Would it be a CMOS battery error or a normal battery error?

As for the other thing, I did try that. That did not fix my touch display.

A CMOS battery error would be 3 Amber and 1 White. @ejn63 is referring to the laptop main battery. And assuming your system is around 1 1/2 to 2 years old that would be just about the time for the battery to be replaced.

Original Dell Parts. I haven't replaced anything in it. I left that work to dell.
