Docking Station with AC Adapter

Hey, I have new Dell inspirion 5406 2in1.

Can I connect WD19 docking station and also connect the original AC Adapter so that the AC Adapter will charge the laptop and not the WD19?

Thanks

@Idan Kogan  AC adapters don't "charge" the WD19.  The WD19 doesn't have a battery.  The reason that the WD19 needs an AC adapter is because the WD19 uses power to run its internal electronics, and provide power to USB peripherals you might plug into it, AND pass power through to the attached system.  But the WD19 can't use just any laptop power adapter.  It's supposed to have either a 130W or 180W adapter connected, and those adapters come with the WD19 itself if you buy them from Dell or an authorized reseller.

If your system doesn't support being charged via USB-C, then yes you can connect the laptop's own power adapter directly to the system in addition to the WD19.  You won't damage anything.

But you still need to have a suitable power adapter plugged into the WD19 itself.  And if your system DOES support charging via USB-C, then there's no point in having a separate power source connected while you also have the WD19 connected.

Dell should sell a PSU with multiple outputs to feed these laptops and docking stations, but it doesn't. You need 2 PSUs and two cables.
