G15, unidentified error code
I’ve had my Dell G15 laptop for about two years. It has given me an error code of 1 amber light and 4 white lights, something which isn’t covered by the manual. The screen suddenly faded from white to black and now only external monitors work. In advanced display settings, it no longer detects the actual laptop monitor. I’ve done full shutdowns and booted into safe mode with and without external monitors to no avail. I’ve read that for Inspiron laptops it signals battery failure, but the battery was running fine prior to this and it wasn’t due to a collision. It was sitting perfectly still then snapped to fully white, then black. Please help if possible.

I believe it’s a 5511 model. It’s a 2021 model with a 10th gen i5 core and a GTX 1650 graphics card. I’ve had previous issues with the graphics card where I would have the Memory or ROM failure (2,4) error, but a Dell staff repaired the issue.

1,4 is usually a battery failure as you note. Disconnect the battery from the system board and hold the power button for 30 sec. Plug in just the AC adapter and see if the system will then power up.
If it will, replace the battery.
If it will not, carefully scan the mainboard for evidence of damaged components (particularly those near the power plug.

To receive assistance from Dell Chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Click the "Get help now" icon on the right to start a live private chat session. Provide to them the private Service Tag and all of your troubleshooting.
Can you tell our users which G15? We have seven =

I’m hesitant to open the computer as my warranty with the store (not Dell) is still active, but if they refuse to replace my computer I will try this. Thank you for the suggestion.

It isn't documented in the manual for that system, but 1,4 is usually a faulty battery error. Shut down, disconnect AC power and remove the base cover. Disconnect the battery from the system board and power up on AC only.
If the flash sequence ceases, the battery needs to be replaced.
